I have just purchased my first jeep (a 1950's MC), but the weights & dimensions data plate doesn't look right. I'll need to describe it, since I don't know how to insert pictures
Overall, the dimensions are correct, but the material is about 1/16th thick. The dimensions, weights and jeep image (side view only, no rear view) have been professionally stamped. The plate appears to be about as old as the other surviving plates, so I'm guessing it's correct. If not, someone's gone through a lot of pain to produce a data plate of this quality.
Has anyone seen anything like this on other MC's?

The jeep seems to have been painted blue over the base olive drab, suggesting air force use. It was purchased from Bolton, Lancashire, England, so it could possibly have originated from the nearby Burton Wood airfield.
It has had headlights fitted to suit British road use, and these also have the blue colour on them. Anyone know if the US air force would have changed the headlights for use in countries that drive on the other side of the road? They look to be 1950's style (marked Lucas, Made in England).
Along each side of the hood, there were 4 small holes, one of which apparently had a small star fixed to it. Not sure if this is original, or something one of the previous owners has added. There is the same blue paint under the star. Along the front of the hood, five equally spaced holes have been drilled. Again, I don't know if this is original, or has been added later. The hood seems to have been sandblasted with the star and the front hold downs still in place, as these areas still have blue paint on them. The sandblasting has obviously removed any serial numbers that may have been on the hood.
The grille has had 2 vertical holes drilled near the outside edge of each headlight, and also one hole about half way down on two of the grille slats (equally spaced).
Any thoughts on any of the above would be much appreciated!
