I bought paint from Rapco, Marine Corp flat green. Can I plan on using a gallon of paint to do whole jeep. How much harderner, how much thinner do I add. Once I add them will the paint stay good in the can if it's not all used. Thanks, Marshall

I painted my jeep this past winter - used 1 1/2 gal of paint to do the jeep inside and out and all accessories and bolt-ons with two coats. I used Gillispie paint, NAPA synthetic reducer at 2:1 and NAPA hardner at 8:1. Sprayed great and dry to the touch in 1 hour and cured enough in 24 hours to tape and stencil. Go easy on the hardener as too much can produce a sheen. Good luck on your repaint - Sonny

Hardener & thinner?

Mine was thinned out when I got it and didn't realize I had to use hardener when I did my frame. Maybe I should use it when I paint my tub???

Applied well with my Harbor Freight gun. I did all the small parts, bumper, tranny and engine with matching cans from Rapco.

I used half gallon 4 coats just on frame so 1.5 gallon sounds correct. I was told rattle cans need to be used within a couple years but gallon cans should last 10 years if sealed well.

The rattle cans don't have hardener added so don't plan on using them.

Only thin or reduce and put hardener in what your going to use when you paint, if you put hardener in the gallon of paint it will cause the paint to setup. I usually mix at about1/3 paint to about 2/3 reducer. do you have a viscosity cup ? And whats it call for. Jim

I already have an airless sprayer, would an HVLP sprayer do a much better job, or just minimal. Thanks, Marshall

In my opinion, an HVLP or a spray gun will do a much better job - just my opinion. I did use rattle can on bolts, nuts, washers, etc. I baked them in an oven at 120 degrees for 40 minutes which dried them completely - otherwise, the paint will remain soft for awhile - Sonny
