To much freeplay!!

Rebuilt my engine---put in a new throw out bearing and disk and now I have to much free play---clevis all the adusted In.
1--old plate and flywheel ---nothing adjusted
2- new disk--in correctly
3--new throw out bearing and carriage---same as old one
4--same fork , pivot ball,cable and clevis
5- engine slid right into the tranny---bell housing tight up to block
6--clutch cross shaft in correctly--prev question

What did I do wrong?

Did you install the small return spring on the passenger side of the throw-out bearing carriage......between the xmission front cover and the carriage?

The spring is in there. With the clevis adjusted up as much as possible I have a pinkie fingers width between the throwout bearing face and the fingers of the clutch--I do not know what moved!!

So are you saying after you've depressed the clutch pedal it's 1.25" of free travel you still have this much space between the front of the release bearing and the clutch release arms?

Did you have the machinist reface your flywheel......and did he happen to mention how much he took off?

I did not have it resurfaced--it is in great shape---I do not have the old disk to do a comparision---I know it is in correctly---I will contact John at Midwest tomorrow am----

This summer, when I was 60 miles from home, I haad a similaar problem. It turned out (after dropping the tranny to no avail) that that one of the levers on the control tube had broken its weld and had rotated on the shaft. Very hard to detect, but easy to fix. Was this your problem?
