I went out to work on the jeep and noticed the pin sticking out through the side of my fuel pump. I have only drive the jeep once since I installed it!

WTH is it? I have a bad feeling it is not supposed to be like that.

That's no big deal. They should have done a better job at flattening the head on the pin to keep it from walking out. The tip on the ones I've seen are brass so it will flatten easy.

Looks like the washer either was not installed on the left (front of engine)end of the pin or it was not staked adequately. You're gonna have to pull the pump to re-install a washer over the small end of the pin and stake it really good. This is the time you can decide to sort it out yourself or deal with the vendor for warranty repair work.

Another though would be to fabricate a small bent tab that would fit under the head of the rear pump mounting bolt and set tightly against the end of the properly installed pin.

i have one of those to. mine lasted about 800 miles then started leaking and went belly up. hope you have better luck..

Got the pump off today. Seems they used glue to keep the pins in and both sides have come off.

Do you think JB weld would work as a replacement?

The other option is to cut down the pin on both sides and then thread the hole and put a screw in each end.

If your pin can slide out from either side then your not set up right and have a bad body or the wrong pin.

The pin should only slide through one side. When installed properly you slip a washer over the small end and stake the end of the pin so the washer can't come off.

If your pin does slide thru either side then get a length of pin stock and two washers that fit it. Make the new pin wide enough that it protrudes from both sides with enough pin sticking out for the washer and then a cotter pin hole on each side. Drill a 1/16" cotter pin hole close to each end. Install one washer and one cotter pin on one end. Slide it in as you use it to push the old pin out. Then install a washer and cotter pin on the other side.

It does not slide freely. You have to use a hammer to get it to move. The manufacture went the cheap ass route and put epoxy on both ends.

I just don't want a repeat of this happening.

I like your idea though about getting a longer pin and drilling some holes for cotter pins.

I'd try and locate the correct pin and washer. This washer is 0.189 ID x 3/8 OD x 0.042 thick

Well I have tried several different things and still no luck.

The pin they used looks nothing like the one pictured. It is not tapered at all.

It seems to save money they used a non tapered pin, inserted it, and then glued the ends to keep it in place.

I tried stacking it in. No luck. I tried to JB weld it in. No luck.

For now I am giving up.

I think I miced the pin a 0.21 but will have to pull the unit again to measure it. I am going to try and purchase a longer one and cotter pin each end.

BTW...since the vendor wont even respond to my request for help I am listing the vendor now.
