Question about hat channel welding

I'm getting ready to finishing up the bottom of my tub and a thought came to mind. The hat channels come in a few pieces and you have to weld a sheet metal strip on top to join them.

I was thinking I should have welded where the hat channels contact each other also and not just the sheet metal strip on top. I didn't do this and now I'm thinking all the pieces need to act as one solid piece?

What do you guys think? Big deal, not a big deal?

It probably woulb have been a little sturdier, but as long as they are tacked fairly close together all along the channel, I don't see a problem with it - you might get some rubbing and squeaking for a little while if they are too close together though.

I think while it's the perfect time to do it I'll just lay some beads (or in my case bird crap) in the joints. Can't hurt.

Yeah, if it's not too much trouble to get to. That's the way I weld too - that's why I got my brother to weld my new floors in. I'm practicing though! Good luck on it
