Carb Gas Leak Problem
Hi guys, my m38A1 came with a Carter YF 2467S Carb. It is apparently the later civilian non water proof version. I have not found allot of info on it. The engine was as far as the previous owner got in his restoration before I acquired it and did the frame off. The carb had been rebuilt ect. I finished the restoration around 2 weeks ago so still in the shakedown period. I noticed the other day I had a small amount of gas on the carb under the float bowl and on the engine head. I took it off and separated the components and put new seals and gasket sealer. Reinstalled it and fired it up. Let the engine come up to temp and brought the RPMs up for few… no leak. Drove around the farm a little and double checked, more gas on the head. Checked the carb for leaks while idling, nothing. Drive around the shop, gas on the head. I believe the leak is coming out the pump and metering rod assembly under the bowl. I can’t be 100% since it only does it when driving. I had hoped it was a stuck float or the float was set too high causing it not to shut off and flood the bowl. Took it apart and checked. I added a little bend to it to put more pressure and inspected the float and checked it for leaks. I checked the metering rod to make sure it seated well. Everything was good. Put it back together with adjusted float height and still leaks maybe even worse. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions what is going on? I was hoping this type of leak would ring a bell for someone.

First you should not use any sealers with carb gaskets.
That is a mid 50's Willys six cylinder wagon carb which will probably meter more gas then your F134 can use.
You are going to have to do a more careful and closeup inspection of the carb while it is running. Clean the carb and head with spray brake cleaner and blow it dry. Use a good light and inspection mirror. Start the engine and observe the area for leaks at idle for a few moments. Then operate the accelerator pump a few times while looking closely at the rod area. Then advance the throttle to about 2500 to 3000 RPM and lock it there for a few minutes while you inspect closely with your light and mirror. Now accelerate suddenly from that RPM a few times and watch the bowl and rod area closely.
Finally while the throttle is running at about 3000 RPM suddenly release it to idle.
Another issue to watch for is cracking of the carb housing which is not uncommon.
A good source for manuals

The L134's use the same carb base but the F134 uses one size larger. So the WO will not fit the F134 head. The correct YS950S is not that difficult to find used. The rebuild kit for it from MWM is $55.
