How do you separate the clutch/brake pivot shaft from the frame mounted bracket? It seems like I am missing something obvious. The tab that fits into the clutch pedal arm must be removable - right? Thanks in advance.

You slide the shaft out the inboard side.

There is a tab on the shaft (F) that dictates the clutch pedal lever's orientation. This tab prevents the shaft from clearing the bracket (B) and being slid out to the inboard side. What am I missing? Is that tab removable? Thanks.

Yes.....that is a round bottom woodruff key and is removable. Its probably been buggered up a bit and just needs some bfh persuasion.

Why haven't you just unbolted the support from the frame?

Thanks for the info; I can't say that I am familiar with a round bottom woodruff key, but I will be shortly.

I was referring to actually dropping the entire pedal support with the two lower pedal shafts still installed then work the worn unit on the bench.

I can't seem to locate a picture of my key....but here's a pic of the slot in the cross-shaft where it fits. Notice the rounded shoulders for the key to sit on. Me thinks this was used because its an easily machined key way and results in a key that stays in-place without the need of anything screwed into or onto the end of the shaft.

Incidently.....this deplorable shaft got replaced....but not disgarded. I can always have the machine shop build the shaft back up and work it back down to spec again.......someday......or at least that's the story I told my wife when she asked why I was keeping it.
