M38 Horn

Post by swat »

The horn on my M38 was not working when purchased. All horn button and wiring to horn checks out O.K. When I disassembled the horn, (Auto-Lite HX-4004-UT) I found one of the wires connected to one of the condensors was not connected to anything else. I can find no unused terminal, or appearant solder joint that it should be connected to. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or picture of the internals of this horn? Ordnance number is 7728341. Wes??

The TM 9-1825B Auto-Lite Component Repairs. Lists the HX horns but does not illustrate them. A condenser is usually used to store electricity and/or absorb peak spikes and help eliminate burning of the contacts so it is possible the wire from the condenser goes to the contacts.
