Starter Pinion Binding (Ruhh!!!Ruhh!!! sound)

Good day to all!

Got this regular starter problem on our Willys jeep with the civilian engine block. Starter Pinion Gear keeps BINDING to the overrunning clutch esp when engine is very Hot. Is it ok if i put a spacer/washer in between the pinion and clutch just to keep it from binding?
