I was replacing the door skins on my door frames and came across a problem. On one door frame the handle was held on with a threaded stud that allowed me to take off the handle. The other handle is held on with the rivet. If I grind off this rivet, what is available to replace it with?

I ran in to the same problem. I found a screw that matched the other one, ground off the rivet and drilled and tapped the handle shank. Now they both match. I suggest using blue locktight when putting the screw in. After a year I have had no problems.
