Hi all,
happy new year.
Odd question this but what's the mass of the M38 engine without gear box?and what's the mass of the engine and gearbox and transfer box all together?

Why? you ask. Well my mates 1 ton engine hoist won't lift the engine box and transfer, (I think it's goosed but he won't have it) so I'm buying one.
Thanks,
Dave

It may be you just need to add some fluid to the ram on your lift.
I just so happens I was moving around my engine w/trans & transfer
last night and worked just fine. 2 ton lift. Hope this helps.

That was the first thing I did, I think the oil is by-passing. I'm not bothered about that it's the mass of the componants I'm intersted in, actually it's a two ton hoist so it should be well on top of this job

The Operator's manual states that the entire power plant (motor, transmission, transfer, radiator) is 663 lbs. A half ton hoist should lift it out fine.
