Any current gas tank updates on fit and quality???????
I have a M38A1 that I went through the gas tank saga with and have now purchased a M38 flattie. I removed the original tank and pushed my fingers through the side----
, I've read other replys to the question of " where to get a new tank", made a call to a vender who has a MD Juan / Oxi-mida tank. I have terrible feelings about their stuff. The M38 has a flat non- sump floor, but is the neck angle, height, clocking, locations of the holes, etc. still wrong?????????? Is there a US made copy that actually works? Another NOS tank is a long shot to find. I know there are guys out there like me looking for a tank. Anyone have new first hand info. about what you experienced?? Anyone have a tank with just a bottom repair needed available? If it has good solid top and sides, I'll put a new bottom in it. Please advise. Thanks and Green is good!

MD Juan quality and accuracy is up and down. Sometimes a guy gets her to slip in and only has to bend things a bit. Then the next guy has an filler angle problem or the strap slot at the back is off 1". It's a gamble. If you have a nearby dealer you can trailer the jeep over and have him set the tank in the tub before you buy.
Otherwise the rare NOS and decent used are your only alternative.

I agree with wes,
I purchased an MDJ m38 fuel tank a year ago and just got it installed last week. It fit but the neck angle is off about a 1/2" towards the front of the jeep and the back strap was off about 1" from the bolt hole. I had to trim the rubber neck gasket on one side to make it fit which left the other side barely on - but it worked and is not easy to see, so.... As far as the back strap goes I just made a hook strap out of a piece of steel with a slight angle and it works.
