Stencil

Post by ocwd »

What does the stenciling say and where is it located? What is the height of the letters and numbers? Very cool.

Rick,
It looks like your screw holes go all the way through the ring and into the top of the tank. I think I see the floor in one pic. Is that correct?

Also, is the top of the tank metal or lip even with the top of the mounting ring?

I've had mine "repaired" twice to raise and level the ring and it still isn't. I'm afraid that even if I install a thicker gasket that it will leak.

Can I "shave" off the offending raised area of the tank?

I already have 65 bucks in soldering repairs and do not believe the ability to do a good repair exists in this part of Texas.

Hi Rick. Great idea. Use the photos I edited and loaded to my album for recording the measurements.

When you are done I can add the dimensions to the photos.

OCWD, It's a USMC unit.

Image

This would lead me to believe the Marine Supply depot painted a NOS tank USMC Forest Green or the tank may be a reconditioned by the depot tank.

Hi Wes,
I asked a question on this post from 2011. Almost betting RickG has installed his tank.

If so, I can get some measurements for you. Mine is sitting on the workbench and other than the fuel line clip missing looks to be pretty intact other than the fuel pickup flange that I have a question with.
