Clutch release bearing

Post by Bretto »

How are the bearing and the carrier separated on a throw out bearing unit? I am seeing that you can buy both separate. Or are there some units that aren't serviceable? I am not able to make sense of how I'd get mine apart, it looks crimped.

They are pressed on /off, its not a tight fit.
You can put them on /off with a block of hard wood and a hammer.

for the price i'd replace both the carrier and the bearing. be sure
to get a new return spring too. the ball and yoke are available
too. you installed a new pilot bearing too im sure. the PIA of
teardown for a few affordable parts sure outweighs the cost of
the parts.
keep 'em rollin'
