New Crankshaft Problem

Hello everyone,

New user and first time post to the forum. I recently ordered a crankshaft kit from Kaiser Willys. In the process on installing it, I realized the two taper pins that connect the crank to the fly wheel don't fit the new crank. Apparently, the holes for the taper pins are larger than the ones on my old crank. The taper pins pass completely through the new cranks holes. Has anyone heard of this? Is it possibly a mistake by the machinist or are there different sized taper pins?

Thanks!

Early L134 cranks and flywheels used the two 3/8" tapered dowel bolts. Later cranks and flywheels used the much larger shanked straight cut dowel bolts. It is common practice to upgrade from the tapered dowels to the straight dowels whenever the flywheel is removed.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I looked right past that page in the tech manual. I recieved a call from Kaiser Willys this morning and he mentioned the larger holes requiring bolts. He said he would get back to me this afternoon so hopfully I'll be back in business soon. Thanks again!
