correct vehicle number placement?

Post by WESTCOMVIC »

I have looked in a series of Supply Line and Army Motors and have yet to get a definitive area of placement for vehicle numbers. Some sources lean to the side of the hood, and others the "rocker panel" area. My jeep is a 1953 M38A1....#53-32475 and as far as I know was only used in Canada, possibly by 1 Combat Engineers, out of CFB Chilliwack,B.C. Any suggestions,Wes??......Thanks

I have looked at this and depending on the Unit determines the placement of the numbers...

I know the Queen's Own Rifles based out of Ottawa / Toronto area were done on the hood... They were an airborne unit from what I can determine...

Everyplace else was done on the rocker panel area...

As for any other markings there are two photos of a restored M-38CDN in my photo gallery (Hal Miller - Photos 22 &23) I got htose sent to me from a gent at the Comox Museum in BC...

Hope this helps...
