Hello,
Can anyone tell me, is there as splash panel for the right rear fender well on a 52 M38A1. I can find a listing for one on the left side on Midwestmilitary.com but I don't find anything listed on the right side. My jeep doesn't have anything on either side and it seems like it needs them.
Thanks,

The shield inside the rear fender on the left is for the trailer plug wiring.

I'm thinking that the lack of a shield on the rt side probably
contributes to the rt rear rust-thru we are so used to seeing.

I take it that the A1 is different than the M38 in this respect? My M38 has one on the right side as well. I'm pretty sure that it has not been modified by Bubba in any way since we acquired it from the Civil Air patrol who got it from the Texas Air national guard.
Interestingly, this A1 has the trailer connector on the left side, but does not appear to have ever had the splash guard.

The M38's right side panel is not a shield. It is the reinforcement bulkhead for the spare tire mount left over from the CJ3A birthrite of the M38. The M38A1 did not have a spare mount function there since it was a ground military developed jeep that always intended the spare to be mounted on the rerar panel.

That makes sense. Thanks
