Does anyone have any good pics or diagrams of the plumbing for the vacuum operated wiper motors on my M38A1 (1954).
Thanks

Is your A1 factory stock 54 or field upgraded with fording plumbing kit installed. (I am not referring to the snorkle and exhaust risers set). I mean the tranny, master cylinder, carb, and fuel vent system plumbing found on pre Oct 53 M38A1's.

Hi Wes, to be honest I am not sure. I’m a newbie and just purchased my A1 a few months ago and still learning about the variants. What I do know is that the right vacuum port on the passenger wiper motor is not plumbed to anything and I know that can’t be right. Right now the plumbing comes off the dual action fuel pump and through the firewall to a thumb valve then up to the bottom port on the driver’s wiper motor, out the top of the drivers motor to the bottom port on the passenger motor and then the top port on the passenger motor is open.

The wipers are not plumbed in series. They are plumbed parallel. From vacuum "T" in engine compartment to shut off valve on the windshield. Then thru a "T" to both wipers.

Top is correct after mid 53. Bottom is incorrect anytime.

Those M38A1's before mid 53 and those that were re-kitted for fording vacuum systems in the field will also use two pipes and a "T" on the vent side of the wiper motors plumbing them to a fitting on the aircleaner.
