24 volt accessory firewall/dash plug

My early production M37 and M38 both have the 24 volt singe pin accessory plug and cap assembly that is powered up by another or 3rd breaker. Kinda cool, but what the heck are the accessories that were used or plugged in there? Coffee Pot , shaver, electric warm suit, buzzer, gun warmer?????????

Electric defroster panels for the windshield or heater blowers and etc. Remember the receptacle was installed assuming at some point in time it may be needed. It was dropped the same time as the slave cable receptacle and hand primer dash pump to cur down acquisition cost to keep congress happy on unit price of jeep.

Interesting. Seen lots of defroster panels for sale. Never thought about where they plugged in. Thanks for the info. John

Wes, may I assume that the external receptacle from under the hood and over the right fender is the slave cable receptacle? And do you have an example of what 'they' were thinking when 'they' initially thought of this article?

You are correct as are we. Two different receptacles for two different purposes in two different locations.
They were used on early M38's thru MC47771 and early M37's thru 80028129. They were made by Bendix-Scintilla part number 60-42013-53, ORD # 7720497, Willys# 801469 and Chrysler # 1269064. They were also used on early M35's.
It was installed in hole #8 and the female receptacle and dut cover were facing the back side of the dash.

Rear view under dash. You are facing the cowl battery box and the circuit breaker's mounted on it's side.
