Hi folks,

I am from Rio (Rio de Janeiro) and I am new owner of a M38. Considering that Brazil is quite not the best place to find parts for it, and I do not have a jeep guru besides me, the M38 is doing well.

For instance, I am looking for a complete steering assembly. The one that came with the jeep is not the correct one and has many problems.

Could you advise me where I can find one ( steering assembly) in good shape please.

I am very pleased to find this forum. It is a great help for those like me and for the all the jeep lovers.

All the best,

G. Turchetto

Hello Carioca,

You should check out the vendors in the weblinks section of this site:

Many of them ship worldwide, and may be able to help you out. And if you don't have it, download a free pdf copy of the ORD 9 parts list for the M38 from this website. Here's the link:

I'm not certain, but I think that the M38A1 steering assembly works with the M38 too. Can someone in the know provide input here? :?

Best of luck with your M38.......

Wbr,
Owen.

You should stay with a flat fender steering gear box due to the differences in steering ratios between the early flat fender jeeps (CJ2A, CJ3A, M38) and the M38A1 / M170 / CJ5 / CJ6 / and late CJ3B.

Dear Wes,

Many thanks.

I am trying to get a original (M38) steering assembly in US.

Until now without success. But I will continue my search.

There is a oil dripping that comes from inside the bell housing (it comes from the transmission) . Occurs just after the engine stops ( 5 min. dripping after ), then stops dripping.

Should it be a felt oil retainer out of its place ? any clue ?

Best regards,

carioca

The T90 transmission went thru a few changes in the sealing of the front end.

Review the answers on this T90 rebuild guide:
