Hello everyone does anyone know if it is possible to use a 24v loom on a 12v 1944 GPW the reason i am asking is because i have seen a 24v loom with all the clocks and lights for sale but i dont want to get it if it wont work.
now for a really odd question how the $&% do i get the wheel hub off i know this is going to make you all laugh but i cant for the life of me see how it comes off.

Which wheel hub? Front, rear, or steering? Rear is on a tapered shaft and usually requires a hub puller. Search this forum and you'll find a thread with pictures of the tool. Also, see this page: http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/Tech/BrakeDrums.html If you're asking about the steering wheel, there was discussion on that subject on this forum quite recently.

Buy a harness made for your model Jeep. 12 volt requires less gauge wire than 6 volt, so you are good to go. To remove your hub on a 44 GPW, you need to remove the small hubcap to see if the previous owner didn't cut off the nut on the end of the axle. Then remove the cotter pin and remove the nut. Then remove the ring of bolts and take off the outer splined flange. You now should see a large nut with a lockwasher. Un-bend the lockwasher and turn off the nut with a correct sized socket. Under this is the inner nut, same size, remove this too. Under that is a hard keyed washer that is against the outer wheel bearing . Remove both and carefully pull the hub and brake drum off the spindle. You may need to slacken off the brake shoes to release them from the drum for clearance. It's a fricken mess so get lots of paper towels and a waste basket handy. Next? John

Is your 44 GPW dash modified for a 24 volt M38 or M38A1 dash??????They are very different. Senders, tubing, wiring, are all different. John
