Data Plate ORD Number

The data plate for my 1950 M38 appears as below At bottom of post. This M38 is one of the first 400 built.

In the upper middle of the plate the Ord Stock number is "X"ed out and in the top right hand of the plate is stamped the G2740 etc, right above where Ord Serial Number would appear.
I know the or at least I thought that G740 is the ord number for the M38, what is the 2 between the G and the 740 and what is the extension after the 740.
I have looked at a data plate from another M38 I have that is about the 3000 built. The Ord Stock Number on the data plate remains 6795532, it is not "X"ed out and the G2740 etc is not stamped in the top righthand corner.
Of course my questions are why is the ORD Number 6795532 "X"ed out on one tag and the G2740etc number added. Am I confused about the ord number being G74 for the M38.
Lastly, if my picture doesn't post can some one tell me how to do it. I looked at a post from Wes or Ryan from 2005. I then opened an account on Flickr followed the rest of the directions.

Thanks, I assume that you're saying that they usually work?

There's no reason they shouldn't work... but normally when you are linking a photo (from photobucket, for example) the it's something like

[IMG ]www.photobucket.com/jeep.JPG [/ img]

for whatever reason, webshots doesn't end with the ".jpg" and that might be causing issues...

Bikemancs,
I decided to try it by adding the Jgp
Image
But I don't think that works either.
When I previewed it instead of having a picture or the link it just had the boxed red X that indicates a picture should be there. As I am assuming that this ends up showing.
I really appreciate you all trying to assist me.

I had opened the picture on flickr and gone to properties to get the link. I went back to my home page on flickr and clicked to get properties and got a different link, or at least a longer one. When I used it the picture displayed.
I appreciate your help.

Back to your questions. The old Ord # for the Willys MC G740 became G2740 when the military adopted the Federal Stock Number (FSN) system the GXXX designations became 2740 which is the correct first four digit arrangement for that Federal Stock Class. The ORD part number remained for a few more years during the transition.
