Have M38A1 MD51860 for parts but...

Post by ApacheWillys »

..it is the older version with the hinge grille and angle seam fenders. I wanted to use them for my M170 but am having second thoughts.
I could build this as an M38A1 as I have the drivetrain, it only lacks the dash, seats, and a few odds & ends. Should I:
1) Go ahead and use the parts on the M170 or
2) Build it as an M38A1, sell it, and buy the correct stuff for the M170.
What would you do?
Thanks,
L.

Do you want two project jeeps scattered around?

No, not really. I was originally thinking I would sell the M38A1 tub, frame, and axles to recoup the money I spent buying it. I am really into preservation though, and wonder if I would be doing the hobby a disservice by disecting a good early M38A1 to cobble up an M170.

best of my knowledge - the M170 production was post fold down grill and 45 degree seam fenders...
