Does anyone have a good pic of the wheel well behind the driver seat? Im trying to figure what went there. Mine has a (2) 1/2" holes that were covered by a plate that was riveted on from the tire side.

I don't have a good picture, but it may have been or seat belts. The "person" who "modified" my M38A1 drilled 1/2" holes in the wheel wells and bolted seat belts in. Now I have pulled out holes with cracks radiating from them which need repair (assuming I ever get that far).

As far as I know there is one hole for a drivers seat bolt.

Ya, I have been doing some looking and now have an idea how it all comes together. I am now asking if someone could be so kind to get some measurements of the bracket? I hope WES and RICKG don't mind me hi-jacking some pics of theirs for my post. (THANKS!)

Being it is flat work, I will probably just make one. I'd like measurements and some close up pics instead of me trying to guess my way thru it.

Great! Thats fine, I can fudge the angles. Also is there a peice underneath that bracket? Looks like it in the white body but not yours Rick.

I can get you the angles off mine, and a second set of dimensions, if you give me a few days. The angles aren't going to be all that important anyway - basically a ledge for the seat to rest on and the face with the hole parallel to the wheel well.

The piece underneath the bracket is a cage nut, I believe - a square nut captured in a sheetmetal cage. I'm at work, so I can't run out and look at mine, but I'll verify that with the other info.

That would be helpful as well Jim. I can take an average if you will of both yours and Rick's measurements and go off that.
I dont think there is a cage nut there. The seat frame has a blind nut in it and the bolt comes up from wheelwell side to pull it against the bracket. My thinking is that there is an extra piece there to prevent it from being crushed.

1. there is no plate on the inside of the fender well. the bracket is
spot welded 4x to the fender.
2. yes the interior structure is a hat to prevent crushing.
the seat frame does have a weld nut inside
and the seat frame is thru bolted from inside the fender well.
3. these dimensions start from top down of the 6 planes of surface.
they are exterior measurements with no allowance for material
thickness-be sure to account for material thickness during fab.
