I'm assembling my engine and am to the oil pan. I test fitted the pan etc. and when I "offered up" the front pulley guard, even with 3/8 inch spacers, it hits the pulley. There must be quite a difference between the military and civi guard. They look the same in the TM's pictures. To clear it with enough room to get the two belts on and off, I need 1 inch spacers. The pulley is 6 3/8 inch in diameter with the two grooves. I had this guard in with my extra engine parts and thought I had it made------LOL

. Anyone have this same experience? Will the Jeep Police deduct points if I make 1 inch spacers? Anyone have the correct one and wants to trade? I've come to the well of knowledge for advice/ideas. John

I have the correct sized spacers and new pulley guards in stock. Your guard may be bent and needs tweeking.

I already straightened it out nice. The arched pressings were never deformed or bent. I am pretty sure it's CJ2A/3A. They don't have as wide a diameter crank pulley and are a single larger belt. I don't have the parts books to do a comparison, but my money is on them being different, but very similar in appearance. Thanks, John

update: M38 pulley is 6 3/8 diameter, CJ3A is 5 inch diameter. I just made 3/4 inch spacers for my painted shield and it fit fine with a easy on/off for the belts. I have a very rare option now, my shield will fit both
