Spare mount hole size

Post by Bretto »

What is the drill size of the 4 holes on the tub where the spare tire mount would go if this was a civy 3A tub? Mine are a bit egged out but one looks to be 5/8". From pictures I've seen, its correct to have them there right?
Thanks,
Brett

Brett,
Two of my holes look pretty good still and they measure out to 5/8 in the tub. The hole in the bracket in the fender well seems to be 9/16.
I can send pictures if you want.

If you are talking about mounting on the passenger side, the bolts that hold the spare tire carrier to the side of a civilian jeep are 3/8 inch fine thread. There also is a brace inside the fender well to add strength to the assembly.

You can see some info on the CJ3B Page;

Thanks guys. I just needed the hole size. I am going to use the existing 2 holes I have to orient the others. I have have made a pattern from the spare mount. I'm not going to use it, just doing body work (never ending).
