DOES ANYONE KNOW A PLACE WHERE THEY DIP AUTO BODIES IN A CHEMICAL TANK TO REMOVE RUST AND OTHER "STUFF"? I LIVE IN SOUTH GEORGIA SO I WOULD LIKE A PLACE CLOSE BY.

There is a place over in Fort Worth.
I checked it out and it was quite a set up.
I think I am going to dip my next project.

These places do a great job on gas tanks. They come back in bare metal, rust free, and ready to weld on with no hazardous fumes.

I talked to the place that someone told me about in Atlanta, but he stated that he would bead blast by tub and dip the fenders. The fenders would cost $2.50 per lb and the tub would cost around $500. I think I'll buy some sanders and sandpaper.

I had my tub, fenders, grill, hood, tailgate, windshield and both front seats media blasted, it cost me $535 and well worth the price... took everything down to bare metal and cleaned all the rust right off... Wish I had done it before my welding class to repair the body/tub. I found things that should have been repaired with welding but had to repair with bondo... (No welder)...
End result is things came out great for my first restoral... Sandblasting will clean more than a sander ever will...
My 2 cents worth...

Hal is right.
I had mine lightly sandblasted (as I call it, because you don't want warped metal)
It took everything down to bare clean metal.
Good for welding and nothing left to loosen up under you paint job.
