trying to put back together the transfer shifters, and trying to figure out the correct way the spring levels are supposed to be assembled. so i went to the manuals tm9-8015-2 and the ord 9 snl g-758. and too me both manuals show a different located and the way they face. the photos i took before disassembly didnt turn out clear enough to tell. could someone so kind and post a picture of the correct way for these spring levels. thxs

I believe you are referring to the two tension spring plates that keep the transfer shift levers from rattling. Both the M38 and the M38A1 show the spring plates installed on the driver's side of each lever pushing towards the passenger side. I reviewed both M38 and M38A1 ORD 9's and the 8015-2 (both illustrations) and the M38's 1804B and they all depict exactly the same thing. I went a step further and reviewed the WWII MB manuals and the post war civvy manuals and they all place the plates outboard of both levers pushing each lever against each other. I would use the both pushing their levers to the right M38/M38A1 program since these two jeeps use a different style pivot shaft which is threaded.
