Mine detector

Post by jeeptj1 »

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Need some info on what would be the proper mine detector for Korean war period and expected price if all the parts are there. I understand its almost impossible to get batteries for them! Thanks john jr

Dunno. I did read somewhere that the army were still using the WW2 types early in the war (the M-1 or PRS-1 for instance). I've seen M-1's sell for about $200 on Ebay, but of course it depends on the condition of them (and if the vendor knows what it's worth  ).

I believe the PRS-2 came out in the late 40's, so this could be correct for the Korean War too. There's other types too, such as the SCR-625.

Does anybody have any period photos or documents that would help to confirm the types used during Korea?

I have the DT44/PPS-3 dated 1951 in my M38. I have seen a few during the past year with the case, harness, and artic kit for $250 - $400 - Sonny
