I have bought a gallon of plain paint thinner (Mineral Spirits), will this work OK with Gilespie paint and primer?

I need to paint some small items and am going to do it with the bottles with compressed air attached...

Is the paint thinner the higher grade stuff (Does it leave a film on your hands or evaporate readily and clean)?

It is best to use the manufacturer recomended thinner, but a generic higher grade thinner will work (ie: walmart brand) in a pinch if you are going to spray some small parts.

Make sure you test it out on a piece of material to check that it will be compatible.

Mineral Spirits is an excellent solvent for prepping stuff, but as a paint thinner it sucks. Simply because it is not that volatile. If you get it on your hands, youll notice it takes a lot longer to evaporate than say Laquer Thinner.

Xylene will work perfect. Its pricer than mineral spitis, but you dont need much. One of the small cans should cover you....depending on how much you thin.
