bell housing

im begining to restore, from a complete tear down on my m38a1. so bare with me as im sure i'll ask several question. i'll do my best to see if i can find my answer's in the manuals or in the search format, but as we all know when you click on search your get everything but what you ask for.
is there a gasket between the bell housing and the trans?.
i may be over looking the question in my manuals,but i look through all the manuals i have and cant seem to find the info!. thxs

No gasket. The input shaft cover does, but it fits in a round hole in the bell. John

There is a gasket pictured on pages 186-7 of ORD 9 SNL G-758. It may be available from suppliers - there is a similar, or perhaps the same, gasket between the trans and bellhousing on my M38. I did replace it during a rebuild. Actually the one that I bought was not quite right, a little smaller than it should have been so I just traced it out on a sheet of gasket paper and made my own - its a simple shape.

The tranny case to bell gasket is PN 640351 and is found on page 190 of the M38 ORD 9.
The gasket used after engine serial MC74419 between the block and the bell adapter plate is PN 804379 on page 30 of the M38 ORD 9.
The gasket used after engine serial MC74419 between the bell housing and the bell adapter plate is PN 804377 on page 30 of the M38 ORD 9.
