Simple Jerry Can mounting question

Post by Avalon01 »

How is the Jerry can bracket mounted to the body of an M38A1?

Mine was not attached to the Jeep, nor did it come with any straps, bolts, or spacers.

There's a support ( bracket )attached by four screws, with spacers, to the rear panel , left side ( the spare is on the right side)
The can is straped on to the support.

I was looking at my Jerry can holder and can not figure out where the spacers go. In between the Jerry can holder and the body or the Jerry can and Jerry can holder?

Do the screws go all the way through the rear panel?

This is how an M38 mounts. Sounds like the A1 is similar. This is a photo looking down on the holder and spacers.

The picture Greg posted is also correct for the A1. Spacers go inbetween the holder and rear panel. Yes, the cap screws do go all the way through and are held on by a few nuts on the other side.
