Firewall / Chrome Stuff

Im trying to find the grommet locations + which hole everything goes through on my M38A1. Looked around in the manual, and I havent found anything. Is there a general rule of thumb to follow -- or does anyone have a chart / picture of whats goes where?
Also, the previous owner chrome plated many of the hinges on this jeep -- and I'm getting ready to paint these parts. Can I just scratch up the chrome surface with a little bit of sandpaper / emery cloth and have it adhere pretty well? Or do I have to go about removing the chrome? If I do, which is the best way to do that?
Much appreciated!

Bob,
You must look harder. The M38A1 TM 9-804A figure 41 is the complete answer to your firewall mapping. This is the first M38A1 Operator's & Maintenance Manual.
I've never had much luck keeping any paint on chrome very long. Perhaps someone here has system that works. A quick call to your local auto paint dealer should also get you an answer.
I'm not close to home so I can't get a TM 9-804A fig 41 copy posted here. If anyone has a quality 180 to 220 K photo of their M38A1 firewall that is as good as our M38 firewall map photos please email it to me and I'll label her up and post it.

I cant find it still Wes.
804A is M38, aint it? And even then, figure 41 is a picture L-head cylinder block, bearings, etc.
Looked in 8014, figure 41 -- shows the rocker arm cover.
8015-2 figure 41 shows the disconnect points.
Thanks a lot for your help! I appreciate it.

TM 9-804 is the early M38 Operations and Maintenance Manual. TM 9-804A is the early M38A1 Operations and Maintenance manual. As I said above I don't have my copy here with me but if someone will send me a good quality 180 to 210 K photo of the A1 firewall I'll be happy to label the holes for you.

After seeing Wilf's post, Ive realized I was looking in 1804A instead of 804A. Darn, I dont have that one.
I'll ask around for a picture of a firewall. Thanks!
