Bonded title M170

Post by rdsar2k »

Well it's a good day! I bought my M170 without a title in 2008 and restored it. I did have the body tag with a legitimate seial number. That with a lot of paperwork and a security bond, I succeeded in registering the jeep. It feels like the day I first started the engine after overhaul. I now have an antique vehicle tag and am legal to drive on the road. Woo hoo. I feel a road trip coming on!

That's great! - do you have any details on the process for those who are in the same position? I'm sure everyone's home state won't be the same as Arkansas, but it will get the thought process going.

Arkansas bonded title

As requested. Arkansas bonded title procedure. I copied what I sent to circleburner.

www.dfa.arkansas.gov/offices/.../Issanc ... dTitle.pdf
Have a bill of sale. Have a serial number tag on your jeep for the police to be able to read. Have the police come and verify the Vin either at your place or bring it to the police station. Take pictures. Follow the instructions on the form I linked above; include pictures (it helps them set a value for the bond). Sometimes they make you get three estimates of value. They didn't make me. After they approve the form they make you get a certificate of bond. I got mine from my car insurance carrier. Cost me 100.00. Go to any dmv with all the above and they will file for a title. If you've an insurance card they will give you a plate. If you only want to drive in parades and weekends you canget an antique plate that is good forever.
