Now that I have the passenger side headlight grounding squared away. Could some one help me with the driver's side. Below is a picture of my light before restoration, but I didn't know any better to get a better picture of what I actually needed and I have long since forgot how it came apart.
Does the light ground to the clamp pointed out in the picture?
It's very clear in both the TM 9-8012 photos that the ground wires both go to the perimeter screws for the light bucket. I've pulled them off of lots of light buckets. Some had the screw installed from the front of the buckt then the ground wire went on the back over the tail of the screw and then a nut was added to the tail of the screw.
Wasn't too awful bad. They're hi res scans from the TM. What really surprised me was there weren't any I could use from the old TM 9-804 which is usually a source for very good photos. It's ashame I couldn't get the a scan with the detail of the screw and terminal end. I have found them both ways. Either with one of the same size screws installed backwards to ground it and some with a slightly longer screw screwed in from the front then the terminal end and a nut with start washer installed from the rear side. It makes more sense to me that with the bucket installed with a gasket the only way to insure a really good ground between the bucket and the grill is to get good mechanica
connection to both metal parts. By using a longer screw with a star washer from the front you get a good bond with the bucket then by using a star washer and nut on the back you get a good bond with the grill.l
