Are you talking about the transmission gear shift knob? At far as I know, all T-90's use the push-on knob.

M-38 uses the push n knob, the M-38A1 uses the screw on type...
I may be wrong but that is my understanding...

Knob WO# 644233 ORD# 7374975 was used on both jeeps at least through 1956.
The CJ2A until sn 38221 used the WO# A971 (same as MB) then thru sn 77758 used WO# 914946 then after sn 77758 & CJ3A used ball WO# 931356.
CJ3B and CJ5 used ball 644233.

just thinking back to the late 70`s, trying to put new boots on trans and transfer. ended up busting the knobs on the transfer. later seems like i got a t90 with a screw on knob. i think it came out of 62 wagoneer. memory aint what it used to be.

My M38 MC36920 transmission and transfer case shifters are threaded. I don't know if the engine and transmission and transfer case are original or not. The engine has remanufactures date in 1955.

Is your transfer case lever pin a straight pin or a bolt with threads and a grease fitting in it's head?
Does your shift tower on the tranny have a rubber boot built right into it?

The transfer case lever pin is a bolt with treads and grease fitting. There isn't any evidence of rubber on the tranny shift tower. When I acquired it, the tranny shift tower had the original type rubber boot, however it was old and torn.
