YS spring confusion

I'm rebuilding a YS carb for my M38 with one of Army Jeep Parts kits and I'm confused on what spring to use on the metering rod side. There is a heavier 1in long spring, and a lighter 1-1/4 long spring in the kit.Which is correct for the M38. Bubba may have been in the carb. before I got it. The 1in one was the one that came out of it.
