Is grade 5 spring eye bolt ok? I noticed torque is fairly low (27 ft lbs). So i am thinking grade 5.

Torque is low but shear is high. Grade 8 is a better choice.

Grade 8 is a good bet for suspension.

Along those lines....how in the Heck do you get these #@$%@ shackle bolts off? I'm at the point of cutting them off and buying new ones.

Generally a torch and a quality 1/2" or 3/4" drive air impact gun. Also do not forget that there are also some lefties!

Hello sled dog, I was able to wrench off the nuts, tap off the plates (late style shackle) with a hammer and brass bar. I was then able to wrench of the schackes.
As for the pivot bolts, I was able to get nuts off and drive the bolt out with a punch.

Unfortunately the torch and impact gun have had no "impact". If I'm correct the lower front left and lower rear right are lefties...is that correct?

if you have the late style, they all are righties (losen by turning counter clockwise). Late style have reinforcement plate.

A lot of IFS are involved with vehicles that are over half a century old! The lefties have an "L" on them. That is the only positive way to be sure what you are wrenching on. As a last resort torch the bottom half of the shackle off to make it easier to drive each bushing out on it's own.

Ok...will give it a little more heat and see what happens but I'm thinking they are going to get replaced. Double/tripple checked to see if there were any markings for "lefty" and didn't see any.
Regardless, nothing is moving.
