Collective errors in bends, angles and brackets is a common issue. As long as she points down away from the rim of the bumperette you will at least not have to listen to that weird pop pop noise of the exhaust bouncing off the inside rim of the bumperette. If you want to hook up the fording kit then you will have to do a little heat, bending and tweaking to get the flange at the right side of the right bumperette so the fording vertical stack lines up right.

John should also have the short extension that helps get the exhaust further out to the right and angled more down.

The end of the muffler is supposed to be inside the bumperette. It should be right at the lifting hook inside the bumperette. If it is not, and you wanted to run the fording kit, you will find that the upright stack will not fit. I do have the M170 extension pipe in stock should you choose to add it.

end of the muffler is inside bumperet and even with the outside of the lifting hook, so it seems everthing is ok for the fording kit in the future. thxs

Inside is a misleading term. It is below the rear crossmember centered below the sides of the bumperette just below the outer edge of the lifting shackle. The rear flat of the bumperette is much lower than the front and sides of the bumperette. I have seen quite a few M38A1's with the end of the tail pipe angle upwards so the exhaust actually hits the right inner side of the bumperette. That is incorrect and requires a bit of tweaking to rotate it down to the horizontal so it can mate with the fording tube.

Although this is an M170 you can see when viewed from the side the tailpipe is BELOW the bumperette not up inside of it.
