Trying to properly adjust my windshield frame i've
come to the conclusion that i have (2) passenger side
brackets Can anyone confirm this??

Incorrect driver side.

Correct pass side.

I see what you mean but I seem to remember the ones I have sitting in my box of parts are the same as in they are stamped the same. I'm sure someone will pipe up but if not I will check later today.

Here's a driver side foto from Wes' album, it's opposite of mine.
It seems to me that for proper adj a guy would need a LH & RH
bracket.

Both M38s I had had different brackets. I have spares if you need one of there are NOS at most of the dealers

Found a pic of mine. They are different as RickC states.

ORD 9, page 297:

7375360 bracket, pivot, left, w/weld nut, assy
7375313 bracket, pivot, right, w/weld nut, assy (windshield)

Here's confirmation of the number for the left one (sorry, lefty is the only NOS one I managed to pick up):

So to clear this up, whats what the proper way these brackets bolt on since they can go on either way? I see pics of them mounted either way.

If you look real closely at Figure 126, p. 304 in TM 9-8012, it shows the slot on the driver's (left) side bracket going from low-front to high-rear, so the lower bracket in your photo above would be the left side, WO-673555 (not that tech manual illustrations are always correct). That checks out with at least one online vendor's photo, for what that's worth. The contents of Owen's box would be the definitive answer.

So according to that then, in Rick's 1st pic on the drivers side,, that one is correct and he has 2 drivers brackets. I'm going to try adjusting it tomorrow with it the other way as Jim points out and see how it works. Right now with it the other way, I'm having a difficult time.
If I get it one way or the other and it works it's staying put.

Here's an old photo i took when I first got the nos bracket:

I got a take-off one for the right side at the same time (that's the green bracket you see in the photo.

I'll see if I can get a photo of the NOS one this evening.......

I'm at a loss. I took a look at some of the old pics in the vintage section and it was hard to make out on most but a few you can make out and it appears that the slots go from low to high front to back. So I'm curious what's in the box Owen.

Here is peice of a that pic from the TM9-8012 Pg 304 that Jim noted. I agree, looks like the slots go low to high in a fore to aft direction according to that pic. I wonder if the bracket in Owen's box just might be the same as the one he has out.

Now this is getting confusing! I know the green one isn't the NOS one, because the one that i took out of the box was not painted (it was bare steel, coated in cosmoline). That said, it wouldn't be the first time I got an NOS package that was labelled up wrong (I bought what the NOS box said was an M38 & M38A1 fording valve; imagine my surprise to find NOS footman loops within ).

So, here's a shot of both my brackets (you can see they're different hands):

Just my opinion, but I'd go with what's shown in the manual photo that RICKG posted. Unless someone out there has a clear shot of one sat on the Willys assembly line? Btw, I think the CJ3A & CJ3B used the same bracket setup.
