Back to "just stopped dead"

Post by WESTCOMVIC »

A while back I had a "dead stop" issue and suspected the coil break down as the culprit. While I checked all componants to the ultimate destination(the plugs), I thought I had no spark(at least the wife told me so!) as she was looking at the removed plug while I turned the motor over.....seems there WAS spark and all my turning over caused an excess of fuel to flood so badly it ran down the air horn tube into the air cleaner!! This is what caused the stoppage in the first place ...stuck float, flooding and die!
Checked tank ,replaced filter and secondary filter in line after shut off valve and cleaned up carb, and air filter(gas in oil bath) Turned over throttle wide open to clear and that sweet sound of a well running M38A1 was music to my ears.....sooo simple but maddingly deceptive. Think simple fix, don't rewire the house to repair a burnt out lite bulb!
