I am slowly restoring my 53 A1 and trying to learn as much as I can about them. I am not looking to do a factory restoration but I want to have the correct equipment/parts on my jeep. I have learned alot reading up on this forum and over on g503. Both sites are a wealth of knowledge. My question is, what are the little details a person trying to learn like me tend to look past or details that are commonly missed. I am taking the time to read the manuals and I understand many things changed on the A1s through the years i.e. hinged grills, battery box cover. I have a good handle on bigger items like that. I understand this is a very open ended question but I hope I can get something out of asking. For example up until recently I didnt know there was drainage tubes in the battery box. My A1 didnt have them so when going through the manuals it never stuck out to me as well as when looking at other A1s. I found this out when stripping down another body I purchased. Thanks for any help provide

My advice is to reread them and constantly refer the section and picture in the manuals to the real item. Over and over until you get it just about memorized and understand the theory behind the parts involved. You should become very knowledgeable over time but you will never quit learning. Persistence is invaluable. Good luck.
