Leaf spring help.
Hey guys. While I was inspecting my rear leaf springs last night, I noticed a crack in the 2nd from the top leaf spring. Any idea where I can buy just one spring. I've checked in the manual, and they say it was basically a set so I couldn't get a Part number or NSN. I also noticed, it has 4 "spring holders" instead of the 6 it is supposed to have. So I need that spring as well. Any idea where I can buy individual springs? I've tried checking online, but everyone seems to have the whole assy. Or would I just have to break down and buy the whole assy? If anyone is close to Richmond VA that has an extra rear spring assy, I wouldn't mind buying it. Any help would be grealy appreciated. Thanks.

The leaves are listed individually with both the Willys PN and the Mather Spring Co. PN. in the illustration on page 282 of the 56 Ord 9 and page 291 of the same manual. The lengths of the individual leaves are also given so you can insure you get the correct leaf. Just ask if someone has an old rear 13 leaf A1 spring pack who can send you that one leaf. You said you only had 4 spring wraps instead of 6. Do you possibly have a civvy spring?

Hey Wes,
I guess I didn't look hard enough in the parts manual. I saw #14 and #17 which was the whole assembly. Thanks for pointing out where to look for them correctly. I don't think I have a civy spring as it has 13 leaves. I thought civy had less. Not an expert as this is my first resto, but I thought the military versions were heavier.

M38 springs
too bad that the spring leaves or leaf packs for the M38 are not available as they are for the A1 series.
