Will a Radiator for a CJ2-A, CJ3-A & M38 work for an 38A1? I ask only beause there is a guy somewhat locally that has a radiator for one of these vehicles or maybe all three. I was just wondering if it was compatible with an A1. Thanks. Sorry if it soudns like a stupid question, but I don't know a whole lot about this.
thanks guys! :D

The M38, CJ2A and early CJ3A won't since they are bottom mount radiators.

The last year of the 3A and all the 3B CJ5 & 6 & M38A1/M170 were side mounted to the grill.

I also believe that the civilian radiators are a two core vs the three core radiator in the military. I think the shrouds are different too.

The heavy duty civvys were 3 and 4 core. Shrouds differed a wee bit but more importantly the civvy's do not have the lower side support rod receptacles the military units have.

Wes,
stupid question, are the radiator supports necessary? I found a civvy radiator for my 55 A1 for $75. Are the radiator to grill bolts enough?

Yes the bolts are enough. The purpose of the "Z" shape lower radiator supports in the military jeeps was so the powerplant package (radiator, engine, tranny, and transfer) could be lifted out and re-installed complete.
