Probably put on later before it was surplused. My '52 had it out of Fort Sill Ok. before it went to a Civil Defense station in Nebraska. The last date stenciled on mine under the hood was '64. John

For judging purposes a factory class resto or a early 1950's period motor pool resto should not have them. A motor pool resto representing a service period during which they were used can use them.
If a person is not restoring for use in a judging environment it makes no difference.

There where a Good Driver Plate out in the 50´s.
Not as a decal, but as a real plate, that is rived to the windshild.
I have seen this plate only on one M38 (one of mine) but it is possible that those plates where added to A1´s too.
have a nice day
