M38 fuel cap guard

Post by evanso1975 »

Does anyone have a photo of the M38 fuel cap guard fitted to the side panel?
Mine sits up at an angle, so the top of the guard sits close to the fuel cap. Is this correct, or should it sit out parallel to the body, like this:

Like I said, mine is angled up towards the filler neck, but Bubba might have got there before me.

Thanks in advance,
Owen.

Owen, mine is 90 deg to the tub as in your drawing. However it is
not level front to rear with it rising aprox 1" front to aft.

Good safety tip. I don't fancy being a rocket-propelled jeep owner. :(
