Tried to find this but no luck so sorry if this has been asked already.
How large is the number stamped into a canadian frame? not just how many characters but how high are the number? I have been looking now that everything is off but I cannot see it anywhere. Thanks

The number is about 1/4" and is stamped on the top of the D/S frame rail between the grill and the front lifting bracket.
Some fine sandpaper should give you results.
52 and the CAR number seperated by a horozontal "1"
Good Hunting.

Thanks Wes. now I know more what I am looking for, with my luck though it's under the welded on engine mount as my understanding was it was anywhere from grill hinge to firewall.
Also got the trans and transfer out this morning, the drive shafts are of course not aligned properly, my transfer has a busted flange, it was held on with silicone

, some of the gears are nicked and at least one of the brass gears is actualy cracked right through one side. The gasket was good too, a piece of ledger paper between the trans and transfer.

on the other hand under all the grease and oil the skid pan was a nice OD.

Sounds like Bubba spent his vacation time in Canada.

tell me about it. found the number though. 52-32128. If I have read things right this is the number that would have been painted under the door as well? Did the light sanding and someone used an orbital to eliminate all painted marking on the outside. I have a small stripe of white and red below the drivers windshield but the rest of the marking is gone.

Here's an in-service M38CDN, with the number below the door:
There's another photo near the bottom of this page:

Note the different font style of the lettering.
