I know this has probably been discussed on here but I was wondering if a 1950 m38 is a different color than a 1951 or 52. mine appears to be a flat drab green color which appears to be a little lighter than the semi gloss that I bought from aervoe (# 24087) it looks like it might be closer to aervoe 34088. any suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Jay

24087 is a very dark brownish paint introduced by the Army in about 1955. It was used in the field for many jeep repaints.

The correct color for all M38's is 2430 OD. It is more green/grayish in appearance. Also the original Willys application of this paint was done in accordance with the Army specification which dictated using the the paint 2430 with flattener added as the primer coat and without additional flattener as the finish coat.

If you want a factory M38 you'll have to trade that paint in for either Gillespie 23070 or Army Jeep Parts Late WWII OD. These are the two closest off the shelf paints.
