Hello! I am looking for Information on a Willys Jeep Engine that I have! It is part of a Hobart Welder/Generator. It runs good, but I would like to know what Year, and if I can find parts for it anymore. The Plate on top says-Model: 5CW-2415D. It also has a Serial number, but I just cannot make it out. Any help from you Willys Gurus would be greatly appreciated!

The description you have given can be applied to any Willys/Kaiser industrial engine built from 1941 through 1971. It could be a L134 (flat head version of the jeep motor or and F134 the hermaphrodite version with the four intake valves in the head like any modern engine and four exhaust valves in the block like the older flat head engine.

The information needed to try to date the engine are:

1-Engine serial number found on the small flat above the water pump for most engine produced after WWII and on the earlier engines the serial number is on a machined oval flat top right side of the engine towards the front under the oil filter bracket.

2-Engine casting number from the lower right side of the engine block just above the oil pan which would be a six digit number followed by assorted spaces and pairs of letters/numbers.

3-The cylinder head casting number on the L134 at the front of the head under the oil filter bracket.

4- The numbers found on the left side of the engine between the oil pump and the bell housing.
