Engine question

Post by Ryan_Miller »

This question was emailed to me and I know Wes has a lot of engine number info.

From new member: Mike Korst

I recently purchased a 1952 Willy jeep, Model
FC-36. I want to restore it and was looking for a descent manual. Also, It
has a four cylinder that I have no idea what kind it is and was wondering if
somebody might know what it is. The only number I found on the block is:
646228-W-13-B-AR-CH-CB. I'm not sure it is a original motor or where it came
form, but it is a 6 volt system (which I would like to convert) I may also
be interested in putting in a different motor but would like information on
adapting it?? Thanks for replying.

Not sure what a FC-36 is? Forward controls were numbered differently. But once you can ID the model jeep then the parts manual will usually help with the casting number.
